Mario Aguilar is the National Commissioner for Aquaculture and Fisheries at the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock Rural Development Fisheries and Food of Mexico. He’s designed implementation of the national policy for sustainable management of fisheries and aquatic resources as well in the development and promotion of fisheries and aquaculture activities; as well integral development of stakeholders concurring in such activities.
The commissioner is with the relevants units responsible for monitoring the policy and international affairs of which Mexico is part. Also, he has served as fishing affairs minister at the Mexican embassy, Washington, DC; counselor minister for environmental, social development and fisheries; alternate representative for legal affairs in Mexico´s mission at the Organization of the American States, OAS, Washington and represented in international forums of Mexico.
Aguilar was Minister Counselor for Fisheries Affairs at the Embassy of Mexico in Washington, DC, (2002); Minister Counselor for Environmental Affairs, Social Development and Fisheries (1993-2000); Alternate Representative for Legal Affairs in the Mission of Mexico to the Organization of American States (OAS), Washington. (1991-1993); participant in negotiations of Mexico in international Forums, among others.
