Rubén Velázquez began his career in tuna as the Vice President of Sales in Pinsa Group in 2001, before advancing to Assistant CEO within the firm in 2009. In the next two years he worked tirelessly to create a new company, a subsidiary of Pinsa known as Pinsa Comercial, which seeks to commercialize all products by Pinsa Group and other potential vendorsThe company is considered to be one of the most important firms within the American tuna industry. The group’s processing plant produces over 2 million cans per day, and has cold storages with capacity for 21,000 tons of raw material. They possess the most important tuna fleet in México with 20 purse seiners based in Mazatlán, Sinaloa. Mexico. They also have the most important sardine fleet in Mexico.

 

Before his career at Pinsa, Velázquez worked at various positions within Datastream Systems Inc, spending most of his time in Mexico as a Sales Manager for Latin America and eventually a Country Manager in 1999.

 

Education-wise, Velázquez has an MBA in Thunderbird Business School, attended the branding program of Kellogg School of Management and is currently studying at IPADE Business School, which is a Continuous Updating Management Program for CEO´s.

Velázquez is proud to have collaborated from key positions in PINSA Group to triple, within 10 years time, the company’s production and sales, despite being blocked for export by the sadly infamous tuna embargo.
